High-End 21st Century Skills
High-End 21st Century Skills SOSEs provide an education focused on skills and entrepreneurship development that is relevant in the fast-changing 21st century. The schools aim to build specialized skills in students across a variety of emerging and high-demand fields that will prepare students for employment in aspirational roles immediately after completion of schooling along with opening up pathways for further studies at the university level. A key area of focus of these schools is development of entrepreneurial mindset and skills in students so that they are equipped to become job-creators in their respective fields. Cutting-edge curriculum and assessments will be offered in six areas of specialization - Finance and Accounting, Coding, Digital Media and Design, Fashion Design, Culinary Arts and Electro-mechanical Production. Curriculum and content will be developed in collaboration with eminent institutes and organizations in the country. Masterclasses, internships, apprenticeships, immersion visits, and live projects with industry partners will provide experiential learning opportunities to students and help them build industry-relevant skill sets.
What are SOSEs?
Schools of Specialized Excellence are choice-based schools for grades 9 to 12 that allow students to specialize in their chosen fields of study. The Government of NCT of Delhi has established Schools of Specialized Excellence in order to cater to students who have a demonstrated interest and aptitude in specific domains. These schools seek to discover, foster, and nurture student ability, thereby enabling them to realise their full potential.
SOSEs feature world class infrastructure and faculties to transact new-age curriculum and assessment in specialized domains. Partnerships with expert organizations for global repute have been secured to ensure a high quality specialized education in SOSEs. SOSEs feature tie-ups with premier universities and global & local experts in specialized areas, and increased exposure to various career pathways through master classes, expert interactions, and field visits. Students will have the opportunity for experiential learning through projects, field visits, internships etc. in their field of interest. This will nurture students for all round development and at the same time set them up for success in their chosen area of specialization. Students at SOSEs will receive targeted preparation for relevant university pathways and employment opportunities.
Schools of Specialized Excellence are affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) and are designed as per the philosophy of DBSE that centers around moving away from rote memorisation through integrating assessment into the everyday practice of teaching-learning, and using assessments for learning rather than restricting them to only be assessments of learning. DBSE is collaborating with the International Baccalaureate (IB), a global community of educationists who have engaged with 5500 schools across 159 countries.
Students from Schools of Specialized Excellence seek to serve as examples of how a stimulating environment and the provision of specialized training and facilities, paired with deep interest and commitment, can take children to great heights in various fields, irrespective of their background.
Schools of Specialized Excellence have been established in 5 domains: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities, High-End 21st Century Skills, Performing and Visual Arts, and Armed Forces Preparatory School.
